German engineering firm Siemens and American automotive manufacturer Local Motors are teaming up to create the worlds first 3D printed car. Thanks to Local Motors access to its micro-factories, mini factories that are highly automated factories of smaller dimensions that help manufacturers to save resources such as space, energy, materials and time. Couple that with Siemens' state of the art software 'Soft Edge' that allows for to a 3D design to be edited across different CAD systems. So designers in Germany and America can work together on the car's design even though they maybe oceans apart. With this dynamic of a team-up you will definitely be driving a 3D printed car in the near future.
