With 3D printing's influence spreading to almost every industry, there are some legitimate questions being asked about 3D printer's environmental impact. Sources are reporting that 3D printers are actually having a positive impact on the environment due to their ability to consolidate the materials and machines needed to create a specific item. Thanks to 3D printers what would take 4 different machines and a couple of days to make a part or other item, can now be done with one machine in a couple of hours. 

Thanks to the versatility of 3D printers there is a reduction in materials needed to make an item. Because only one machine is being used, rather than multiple, electricity usage is also lowered. Also due to less material being used items can be lighter meaning it takes less fuel to transport them.
